When Linda first signed up to foster with Blazin’ Trails Bottle Babies, she imagined tiny paws, late-night feedings, and lots of cuddles. What she didn’t expect was to meet two puppies who would steal her heart—and change her life.
Lauren and Grace were just two weeks old when they arrived. Orphaned and abandoned, they had been found alone with no mother in sight—cold, hungry, and clinging to each other for warmth. From the moment Linda wrapped them in a blanket and brought them home, she knew they were fighters.
The early days were intense. Feedings every few hours, temperature checks, and careful monitoring became part of Linda’s daily rhythm. She learned to listen to their subtle cues, mastered the art of bottle feeding, and grew attuned to every tiny change in their behavior. These weren’t just puppies. They were survivors—and Linda was their lifeline.
Day by day, they grew stronger. Their eyes opened. Their tails twitched. They took their first wobbly steps and started exploring their world, always sticking close to each other. When it was time for them to transition to their Big Kid foster home, Linda watched them go with pride—and yes, a few tears.
She had given them a chance. A future. And when the adoption photos came in weeks later, showing Lauren and Grace snuggled into the arms of their forever families, she knew it had all been worth it.
As she cleaned up their puppy pen and folded the tiny blankets, she sent a message to Blazin’ Trails:
“I’m ready for the next ones.”

The Three Stages of Fostering at Blazin’ Trails
Every foster has different strengths and comfort levels, so we’ve created three stages of care to meet the needs of our puppies—and our fosters.
1. Neonatal Intensive Care (0–2 weeks)
This stage is for our most vulnerable puppies: newborns with no mama, often under two weeks old. They can’t regulate their body temperature, must be fed every 2 hours, and require constant monitoring. This is ideal for experienced fosters or those ready to dive into hands-on, life-saving work. We provide thorough training and 24/7 support.
Time commitment: High-touch care, typically 2–3 weeks.
2. Bottle Baby (2–7 weeks)
Bottle babies are slightly more stable but still rely on formula, warmth, and attentive care. You’ll be feeding every 3–4 hours, helping with potty stimulation, and watching them grow stronger by the day. This is where milestones happen—first steps, first tail wags, and the first signs of play.
Time commitment: Typically 5 weeks.
3. Big Kid (7 weeks to adoption)
At this stage, puppies are weaned, exploring their environment, and learning how to be dogs. Big Kid fosters help them with basic manners, playtime, crate introduction, and getting adoption-ready. It’s a great option for families or fosters with other pets.
Time commitment: Usually about a month, but varies based on adoption timing.
You Can Be the Reason a Puppy Gets a Second Chance
Lauren and Grace are just two of the many puppies who wouldn’t have made it without a foster caregiver like Linda. Fostering isn’t just about giving puppies a place to stay—it’s about giving them a second chance at life.
You don’t need to be a vet tech or a dog expert to foster. You just need time, compassion, and a willingness to show up when a tiny life needs you most. We’ll supply the training, the supplies, and the support—you supply the love.
Whether you’re ready to care for newborns, bottle babies, or playful big kids, you can be a part of something life-changing.
