About Blazin' Trails Bottle Babies
It all started when founder Shana Sommer was scrolling through social media and came across a newborn puppy, Blaze.
Blaze, who was just a day old and missing his front leg—his mother had chewed it off. A rescue was desperately seeking someone to bottle-feed him.
With no experience in bottle-feeding puppies but a medical background, Shana wanted to help.
Vet after vet advised euthanasia, saying they weren't comfortable treating such a small, vulnerable puppy. But Shana wasn't ready to give up. She dove into research, determined to learn everything possible to care for this tiny life.
What she found was a lack of reliable information—no solid guidance or expert advice tailored to neonatal puppies.
That’s when she realized something better had to be built.
With the support of a dedicated team, Shana began gathering the knowledge and resources needed to save these fragile puppies. Together, they built a foundation of specialized care so that puppies like Blaze would have a real chance at life.
Blaze just turned 1 in July 2024
a thriving pup and the reason Blazin’ Trails Bottle Babies exists. Since taking in our first rescue in January, we’ve saved over 60 puppies.
Blazin’ Trails isn’t just a rescue—it’s a community united in giving even the most vulnerable puppies a fighting chance.
